Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteering for the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers were an all-pro three times before beginning a business career. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the team. He was promoted to the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named the player on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
